The first hot commissioning of #4 130t converter of Clean-operation & Energy-saving Reconstruction Project of Shaoguan Steel which engineered by CISDI gains success on April 29th 2011. Three ladles of hot metal are continuously smelted that day with its content and temperature indicators all attain to requirements. The primary and secondary dedusting systems (the new OG dedusting system, bottom blowing system and auxiliary lance system are supplied by CISDI on EP basis) also play excellent. The same day also witnesses the success of hot commissioning of LF and continuous caster. The satisfactory commissionings award CISDI with high appreciations from the Owner.

This project, which contracted with CISDI on February 2008, is an essential step for Shaoguan Steel to eliminate out-of-date process & equipment, and to upgrade with energy-saving and clean-production equipment and process. Phase I of this project consists of two desulfurizing devices, two converters, two LFs, one RH device, one 8-strand billet caster, one 5-strand heavy billet caster and auxiliary main workshop for continuous casting, automation facilities, water treatment system, dedusting system, general layout, etc,.
 
CISDI is engaged in exploring the following techniques to bring the service life of converter to 10 years:
CISDI-SACS technique with CISDI independent intellectual property rights, featuring with light converter body and excellent performance;
Multi-mediums & multi-channel rotating joint technique with CISDI independent intellectual property rights, stable performance, help bottom-blowing system to be more safe and reliable;
Self-resetting thorn-type safety lance device with CISDI independent intellectual property rights;
Moment-limiting scrapper with CISDI independent intellectual property rights, which withdraws the scrapper when the moment goes beyond the moment limitation, it helps to protect oxygen lance and the safety of workers and equipment;
Integrated Control Technique for Converter Bottom Blowing with CISDI independent intellectual property rights;
New OG annular gap device for primary dedusting with CISDI independent intellectual property rights, comparing with traditional wet dedusting system, this new technique could save 30% water;
Mobile fume hood and ball-type flexible lifting device with CISDI independent intellectual property rights, which is more safe and reliable;
AC frequency conversing speed regulating technique is proposed for converter tilting device and oxygen lance lift device.

The main steel grades of bloom caster include: carbon structural steel, low alloy steel, bridge steel, weathering steel, structural steel for Grade D hull, steel for offshore platform, etc,.
