The Special Plan for Utility Tunnels in Haikou co-drawn up by CISDI has been approved and published by the Planning Bureau of Haikou, the capital city of the southern China’s Hainan province. According to the Plan, state-of-the-art utility tunnels of 222.1 kilometers long will be constructed across the city.

At the beginning of 2015, Haikou applied to be among the first lot of cities to pilot utility tunnels in China. And CISDI has partaken in drawing up of the Special Plan for Utility Tunnels in Haikou, aiming to coordinate underground pipes/conduits, enhance the engineering construction efficiency, make best use of the underground space, avoid repeated excavation works for road building, improve disaster prevention capability of the underground pipe lines, and provide further guidance for engineering design, construction and management as well.
