A meeting was organized by Chongqing Science & Technology Commission on July 20 to appraise the environmental-friendly & energy-efficient rotary drum process developed by CISDI Ironmaking Department for slag disposal. The process received high appraisal from experts attending the meeting with following comments: the technology development and application is successful, and the overall operation data is leading in China and worldwide. It is blessed with broad market prospect and will bring great economic benefits.
The rotary drum-based slag disposal process is based on stack effect and water quenching philosophy, featuring high granulating rate and good slag quality. It is a fully-localized package with proprietary expertise. The process was initially implemented in Baosteel BF No.1 on February 16, 2009 with good performance (the actual operational data are better than the designed one), contributing to much better working conditions compared to other BFs. It was also implemented in Meishan Steel BF No.1 and No.3 on May 12, 2009. Besides, BF No.4 of Shuicheng Steel, BF No.3 of Anyang Steel and BF#C of Bayi Steel which are still under construction will be implemented with this process.
