EP order for slab caster No.4 of Xinjiang Bayi Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. was awarded to CISDI in July 2007, which is the third casters to be supplied by CISDI to Bayi Steel on EP basis. The hot test proved a success on Sept. 22, 2008 at the first trial. It passed the performance test on January 19, 2010. So far the caster has run in good condition for over one year, without any breakout accident for three consecutive months (app. 3,500 heats). The slabs produced feature good quality, central segregation within grade 1.5 and internal crack at grade 0.5~1.0. The hydraulic mould oscillation control features high accuracy (horizontal deviation ≤0.1mm, vertical deviation ≤ 3% of oscillating stroke). Soft reduction is achieved, and the slab acceptance rate (rate of qualified slab to feedstock) is around 98%. The management and project team of Bayi Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. are quite satisfactory to the project design, equipment manufacturing, supply and technical services.

The caster is implemented with CISDI proprietary technology such as hydraulic mould oscillation, dynamic soft reduction for segments, dynamic secondary cooling water distribution control and on-line width control.
