CISDI’s proprietary L2 model for cold mills was installed in 1,450mm cold mill of Zhejiang Concord Steel recently. During its first industrial application, the model has function satisfactorily, with main data accuracy deviation within 10%.

The model is designed with system architecture suitable for tandem rolling, pickling line with cold mill, galvanizing and continuous annealing based on CISDI standard middleware (PCDP), featuring easy expansion and maintenance. The coexistence of multiple model strategies contributes to good system flexibility. Function and data can be fully simulated to facilitate system application.
 
Over 60,000t products have been produced by the cold mills in Zhejiang Concord Steel from early February to March, 2013, with thickness ranging from 0.23mm to 1.78mm, width ranging from 1,000mm to 1,250mm, and thickness accuracy over 98%. The extra-think products which are very demanding for equipment, model and control have always been a challenge in straight carbon steel cold rolling. For products of 0.23mm thick, the reduction is 90% (close to the limit deformation rate), and stable & mass production is ensured at 1,000m/min. rolling speed, with thickness accuracy at ±2μm, thickness tolerance at lifting speed less than 2%, and good strip and coil shape.
